Jaybro partners with youth mentoring organisation RAISE

As part of our ongoing commitment to support young people throughout Australia & New Zealand, Jaybro has recently partnered with RAISE, a leading youth mentoring organisation helping teenagers to shape a life they love.

A cause aligned with our values

An internal employee survey on potential charity partners revealed an overwhelming number of our people were excited to get involved with a cause that focuses on young people. And when we looked at the intersection of our team’s interests and our company values, we were naturally drawn to the RAISE Foundation.

Both Jaybro and RAISE work hard to improve the lives of young people, offering opportunities and giving people a go based on their unique skills and tenacity. 

As evidenced by our hands-on immersive industry days for local high school students, and our long term partnership with the MIGAS trainee program, we’re determined to continue this support of young people in as many ways as we can. 

Who is RAISE? 

The RAISE Foundation is a registered Australian charity that empowers young people to be resilient, capable and connected, ensuring there are adults in their lives who are skilled and capable of supporting and encouraging them. 

Delivering mentoring programs in high schools across Australia, Raise recruits, screens and trains volunteers to become youth mentors before matching them with students who would benefit most from having a caring, independent adult to talk to - someone who shows up every week, just for them.

Young people who work with a Raise Mentor experience growth in resilience, asking for help, sense of school belonging and hope for the future. Due to the ripple effect of this program, the schools and mentors also experience positive growth and lasting change too.

How Jaybro will work with RAISE

Employees across the Jaybro Group have the opportunity to support RAISE through a workplace giving program as well as working directly with teens as mentors. 

Over a third of surveyed employees stated they would love the opportunity to mentor youth or high school children, which reflects positively on our culture of continual learning and development.  

We’re excited to offer 15 employees the opportunity to volunteer as a mentor through a trained mentorship program, as well as participating in career and workplace excursions, all of which aim to provide support, care and development opportunities. 

Benefits for both young people and Jaybro employees

“We are so excited to be partnering with RAISE and seeing what a difference we can make to young people in our local communities,” says Group HR Manager Alison Passey. 

“This is a wonderful opportunity that will enable our employees to team up with local schools for a 22-week program that will see employees formally trained as mentors. Then, each of our team members will be partnered with a school student and once a week for 22 weeks, they can take time off work to visit their trainee at school for a mentoring session.”

Whilst on-site, Jaybro employees will be supported by Program Counsellors, providing a wealth of opportunities for personal development in addition to the overall mentoring role. 

This partnership will also provide opportunities for workplace giving through Jaybro’s online giving app Bonusly, plus periodic school immersion days where school students can visit the Jaybro site to learn about life at one of Australia’s top 20 places to work.
