Jaybro Group launches Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan
As an organisation, Jaybro Group is proud to announce the official launch of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) on Thursday, 27 April 2023. This plan reflects our commitment to advancing reconciliation and embracing unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community.
Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that recognises, celebrates, and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as First Australians. We believe that reconciliation should strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community, benefiting all Australians.
For Jaybro Group, reconciliation is about building genuine, meaningful, and sustainable relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations. It is about celebrating and respecting their cultures, promoting awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and creating equitable opportunities and outcomes for these communities.
Our Reflect RAP is aimed at making real change through constant and determined efforts. It is our way of turning good intentions into national reconciliation action.
Jaybro Group is committed to:
- Building equitable, meaningful, and sustainable relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations
- Providing our employees with increased awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their culture
- Creating educational training, employment, and procurement opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses
- Acting in the best interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our organisation, with effective, open, and ethical processes
Throughout our journey in developing the Reflect RAP, we have had the invaluable expertise and assistance of Ngurra Advisory, who provided support in hosting RAP discovery workshops, employee consultations, establishing a RAP working group and committee, cultural awareness training, Cultural Immersion Art Workshop, and assistance with the submission of the RAP documentation to Reconciliation Australia for endorsement.
We are proud to have partnered and collaborated with various Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses such as:
- Big River Connections
- Blacktown Red Belly Warriors
- Dalmarri
- Ngurra Advisory
- Indigico Creative
- Neat Copy
- Plate Events and Catering
- Supply Nation
- YARPA NSW Indigenous Business and Employment Hub
- Zancotts Recruitment Services
We are committed to expanding our networks and nurturing our current and future partnerships.
We have also participated in events such as the Reconciliation Australia - RAP Learning Circle and Supply Nations – First step Training, and we look forward to further engaging with the community by attending events and learning opportunities.
Our inaugural celebrations for the launch of the Reflect RAP were hosted by Jaybro Group COO Adrian Palumbo and RAP Champion Belinda Zizovski, and were attended by our Executive team, RAP working group, and Jaybro Group employees.
We were honoured to have special guests such as Uncle Wes Marne who opened the event with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, Amy Barnes of Ngurra Advisory and Matt Atkins of Plate Catering.
Jaybro Group is proud to take this crucial step towards reconciliation and is excited to continue working with Ngurra Advisory and other Indigenous businesses in creating a workplace that respects and honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, cultures, and values.
